Woman upset Facebook made her remove kids' pictures as offensive

A woman who posted photos of her two year old twins on Facebook had those photos reported as being "pornographic."

What mother doesn't want to show off their kids, especially on Facebook? Ashley Shinert, a free lance photographer, usually posts tons of photos of her twins on the social media site. She said,"my kids are the only family that I have left so I take tons of pictures of them because I want to share them with my friends and I have family that lives out of state."

But after she posted a video of her daughter, in nothing but a diaper, brushing her twin brother's hair that video was reported as offensive. Not long after that, more of her photos were reported for either being pornographic or containing nudity. She said, "I put up a couple of pictures of my daughter in her diaper and my son in his swimming trunks, those were also taken down for nudity.

KAKE News Reporter Monica Castro reached out to Facebook who said there are more than 350 million photos posted a day. They don't review each one, but they do review the ones reported as being pornographic or containing nudity. Facebook Representatives also said they take reports with children very serious.

Still, Ashley doesn't see how her photos fall under offensive. She said, "I want to understand why someone would report that. I don't know how it would upset somebody."

In this case, she says Facebook deleted her page and asked her to remove more photos in order for her page to be reactivated. She complied, but she wonders how and why more offensive things still remain on the social media site. She said, "I have seen far worse. I've seen pictures of naked men, naked women, videos of people dying."
