Wichita State University freshman and men's basketball guard D.J. Bowles is "stable and alert" today after collapsing.

The Athletics Department released an update on Bowles this afternoon. They said Bowles remains at Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis after he was rushed to the hospital last night. The hospital has Bowles listed in serious condition.

The player collapsed during a workout Tuesday evening at Charles Koch Arena.

"I visited D.J. this morning. He is in stable condition, and will have a number of tests today. We may not know much more until we receive the results of the tests. All of our thoughts go out to D.J., his family, and our men's basketball program," said Eric Sexton, director of athletics, in a news release.

Bowles' father, Darren Bowles, said his 18-year-old son is scheduled to undergo tests today to determine why he blacked out at practice.
