About 50 Wichita State alumni and fans are already on the list to visit New York City next week if the Shockers win tonight.
"We open at 8:30 until 5:30 and so we have about two calls every hour and they say, 'Yes, please put me on the list. Give me a call as soon as you know,'" said Bobbi Hansen, Sunflower Travel owner.
The Wichita State Alumni Association and Sunflower Travel have already started putting travel packages together for fans that want to cheer on the Shockers at the semifinals of the NIT.
"We've been putting packages together and answering those calls and trying to be a one-stop shop for them as they want to get all the information they need in order to make plans to continue to cheer on our Shockers," said Debbie Kennedy, WSU Alumni Association executive director.
With less than a week before the start of the semifinal games at Madison Square Garden, travel agencies like Sunflower Travel say that prices should still be affordable.
"It's still looking reasonable and when we have a whole number of ten or more people traveling together, we usually can get a a really good airfare," said Hansen.
Shocker fans now wait to see if they'll be flying to the Big Apple.
"We're rooting them on tonight 'cause we're gonna win. Then, we're going to New York and see the Big Apple," said Hansen.
And no matter the outcome of the game, fans are proud the Shockers continued to play in the off-season.
"It's an exciting time for the alumni here at Wichita State. We always have pride for our university and it's an opportunity for us to showcase that pride on national television," said Kennedy.
