More Kansans are being deployed to the east coast in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.
Today, the American Red Cross Midway-Kansas Chapter sent seven volunteers from Wichita to Philadelphia, Washington, D.C. and Boston. Other volunteers drove emergency response vehicles (ERV) from Wichita, Garden City, and Hays.
Volunteers Dana Tulk and Bruce Meyer took turns driving an ERV from Wichita to New Brunswick, N.J.
"I've met some wonderful people since I've been involved with the Red Cross. It's fun and it's a joy to do this," said Tulk. "And it's an honor and a privilege."
Since Saturday, the American Red Cross has sent 28 volunteers from Kansas to respond to Hurricane Sandy.
In addition, two employees from the Kansas Division of Emergency Management deployed to New York to assist with disaster recovery operations.
