UPDATE: Wednesday, July 3, 2013

Sedgwick County Sheriff's deputies have given the all clear to open eastbound lanes of K-96 near Maize Road, after an overnight accident.

A cattle truck rolled over on K-96 early Wednesday, blocking the eastbound lanes for 12 hours.

Officers were called to K-96 and Maize Road in northwest Wichita around 12:15 a.m. when a cattle truck driver hit a guardrail and rolled over. Sheriff investigators believe the driver may have fallen asleep. He suffered minor injuries.

The truck was hauling 26 cattle. After the crash, crews set up and moved the animals to a makeshift pen. Four of the cattle had to be put down.
