The snow stopped falling, now it's the drifts and the slick conditions that are causing all the problems.
Even the snow plows out trying to clear the roads had some trouble. A Sedgwick County plow went off the road at 39th south and Rock this morning tipping on its side. A tow truck driver worked for several hours to get it out of the ditch. Cars trying to get through neighborhood streets ended up stuck all over the city.
"It's been crazy. Cars are getting stuck with all the drifting," said Tow Service Inc's Darrell Longpine.
The drifts were so deep, west Maple street was closed for several hours so crews could get it cleared off. Road crews spent the night trying to get the main streets cleared for the morning commute.
City crews will continue plowing 24 hours a day until they get all of the main roads cleared. If you can get out of your neighborhood, the highways are clear.
