Huge crowds flocked to the Chick-fil-A in east Wichita Wednesday in support of what's being called "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day."

The national move hit the Air Capital as hundreds of people wanted to share their support for Dan Cathy, Chick-fil-A CEO. He was recently criticized for taking a public position against same-sex marriage.

The lunch line went out the door and stretched across the parking lot in Wichita. Everyone told KAKE news they were there to support Cathy and the right to free speech.

Wichita Police officers were out directing traffic around the fast food restaurant.

Reports say that opponents of Cathy's stance have planned "Kiss Mor Chiks" on Friday, asking people of the same sex to show up at Chick-fil-A locations and kiss each other.
