Sedgwick County Election Commissioner Bill Gale says more than a thousand voters have switched party affiliation in the month of July.
Gale gave an update on advanced voting and the primary election to county commissioners Wednesday morning.
Gale said a record number of Sedgwick County voters were turning in advance voting applications for the August third primary. He also said many people are changing affiliation so they can vote in the primary.
He attributes the trend to several big races, including the race for the Fourth District Congressional seat left vacated by Todd Tiahrt and the race for Jerry Moran's Senate seat.
