Sedgwick County firefighters are going to be working closely with sheriff's deputies on the Fourth of July to help with a new fireworks ordinance.
This year it will be legal to shoot off fireworks in Sedgwick County. It has been illegal for 30 years, but recently county commissioners voted to change the ordinance.
Fire Marshal Tim Millspah said there will be six firefighters out during the holiday weekend to make sure everyone is safe and not using illegal fireworks.
Any fireworks bought in Kansas are legal to shoot off. Millspah says no bottle rockets or M-80's are legal.
