Police Investigating After Toddler Found Playing In Drainage Ditch

Wichita police are investigating after a 2-year-old boy was found playing alone in a drainage ditch near 3rd and Piatt in East Wichita.

The boy and a 7-month-old sibling were taken in protective custody Tueseday morning, after an anonymous call to 911 told police the boy was unsupervised. Police found the child by himself, wearing a dirty diaper. The 911 caller said the boy had been playing alone for about two hours.

Police say the child's parents live nearby. No arrests or charges have been filed. Police say their Exploited & Missing Children's Unit is still investigating.
