The nation is coping with an economic crisis, but that could be a good thing for travelers looking for a bargain. There are travel deals galore for destinations across the globe. With the economy going south hotels, cruise ships and airlines are offering deep discounts as business dries up.

"Any destination is a good destination as far as prices go," said Cruise Holidays Owner Joe Bye.

We're talking major price cuts.

"Better than what they were offering in November and December of this past year," said Trish De Damos of Just 4U Travel.

Want to visit sin city? You can find a hotel for up to 80% off. Package deals for multiple getaways start in the low hundreds. Ready for a jaunt to California? On Wednesday morning Allegiant announced a new direct flight to Los Angelos for only $99 each way. Thought about an Alaskan cruise? Prices are half of what they were last year. Those are just a few examples.

"For a person that has not cruised before, this is definitely a good time to do it. For somebody who has cruised but wants to experience the champagne taste on a beer budget this is definitely the time to do that as well," said Bye.

Wichitan Jennifer Jones cashed in on the travel industry crunch. "One day I just woke up and decided I need to go on vacation."

With a few hours of online research she found a great deal on a getaway to Mexico.

"It all comes down to price. I can get online and research all I want, but if I can't find something we can afford we're not going to go anywhere," said Jones.

While it's great for travelers, the flip side is travel agents aren't making as much money.

"Because the prices are reduced. So even though we're still doing the same amount of work, the dollars are certainly a lot less," said Bye.

And just because there are great deals to be had it still doesn't mean people can afford them, especially here in Wichita.

"People don't produce planes they don't have the money to buy vacations," said De Damos.

So how long will these deals last? Travel agents aren't sure. But they do say many of these deals are going fast, so if you do have a few extra dollars to spend it might be wise to book you vacation A.S.A.P to get the biggest discount.
