Despite all the layoffs in the Wichita area, there are still hundreds of job openings.

Wesley Medical Center and Via Christi are both looking for nurses and other health care workers, and many of the aircraft companies are still hiring.

The Wichita Area Technical College says it has no problems placing graduates in high paying positions.

"Our graduates, up to this point, have not have a problem finding a job, most of the local aircraft manufacturers hire them," said WATC's Noel Gary.

Noel says even though planes aren't being made right now, existing ones still need mechanics to fix them. That's where his students fit in finding jobs.
