Police Warn Shoppers

Wichita police are hoping a warning will lead to safe shopping this holiday season.

KAKE News cameras were allowed to go along with detectives who were conducting a quick tour of a parking lot. Within minutes, they found purses and electronics in open view for thieves. One car was even left unlocked with the keys inside.

"Yeah, it's open," said Olga Cona.

She says she lost the remote that unlocks the car and she simply forgot the keys were inside.

Police recommend people put packages, purses and electronics in the trunk, or cover them up with a blanket. They hope by warning shoppers now, it will help cut back on crime during the holiday shopping season.
