HUTCHINSON (AP) -- The Kansas Attorney General's office is suing the former operator of a defunct Hutchinson stove restoration business.
The consumer protection lawsuit, filed Monday, seeks nearly $663,000 in restitution and penalties for "deceptive" or "unconscionable acts or practices" involving at least 50 consumers.
It names Stevan Radakovich and his former business, Vintage Stoves.
The California transplant repaired and restored 1950s and 1960s-era gas stoves from March 2005 to November 2007.
Complaints started to pile up last year, however, for nondelivery of stoves and refusal to refund down payments. Some complaints also cited problems with the quality of the finished stoves.
The AGs office has said its investigation was complicated by the fact that Radakovich fled the state.
