National Economic Crisis Starts To Hit Sedgwick County

Sedgwick County could soon have to tighten its purse strings as the national economic crisis starts to hit home.

While the county's revenues have been strong for most of the year, sales tax and property tax collections are starting to drop and most of it has to do with the local aviation industry.

Recent layoffs, a three day work week for Spirit employees and cuts at supplier companies are the cause of the county's beginning money woes.

While the county has cash on hand to take care of any immediate crisis the budget for the next two years could be extremely tight.
