The Harvey County Sheriff's Office held a press conference today at 2 p.m. and released new information in a suspicious death.
The victim has been identified as Richard Wiebe.
The victim's son, 43-year-old Lamoine Wiebe of Peabody, has been arrested.
Early Sunday, Wichita Police stopped Lamoine Wiebe and arrested him on a stolen vehicle charge. After the arrest, Wichita Police contacted Harvey County to do a welfare check on Wiebe's father.
During the welfare check, Harvey County Deputies found the body of Richard Wiebe. Investigators say Wiebe suffered gunshot wounds to the chest.
Lamoine Wiebe was being held in the Sedgwick County Jail until yesterday, when he was transferred to the Harvey County Detention Center. He has been booked on charges of first degree murder.
Bond has been set at $750,000. Wiebe is expected to make his first appearance sometime later today.

On Sunday, the Harvey County Sheriff Office was requested to do a welfare check at 3401 SW 60th, Sedgwick, Kansas. Sheriff Deputies arrived at the residence at 9:50 AM and discovered a deceased 78 year old male. The subject was found in a 5th wheel trailer that was located within a large tin building. The victim has been identified as Richard Wiebe, the resident of the above mentioned address.
Search warrants were drawn up for the residence as well as other property of interest from initial investigative findings. An autopsy is in the process of being completed at the time of this press release. Cause of death will be related after the autopsy is complete. The Harvey County Sheriff’s office is working this case as a suspicious death.
A person of interest has been identified and is currently in custody at the Sedgwick County Detention Center on unrelated charges.
Agencies assisting the Harvey County Sheriff’s Office in this investigation are: Newton Police Department, Harvey County Attorney’s Office, Wichita Police Department, and the K.B.I.
Evidence is being gathered and search warrants are being served as the investigation continues.

The Harvey County Sheriff’s Office confirms they are investigating a suspicious death.
Around 9:00am Sunday, The Harvey County Sheriff’s Office was called to check on an individual at 3401 Southwest 60th, in rural Sedgwick.
When deputies arrived, they found the body of a 78-year-old man in a 5th wheel trailer, near a large metal shed.
The Harvey County Sheriff’s Office says the death is suspicious and that they are investigating.
They say search warrants are being served in the case, and a person of interest has been identified.
