A week ago voters elected Michael O'Donnell, Pete Meitzner and James Clendenin into office to replace outgoing city council members Sue Schlapp, Paul Gray and Roger Smith.
Today, a judge swore the three into office after a lengthy ceremony at city hall. Sue Schlapp wiped away tears as a video played in which her fellow council members told her good-bye. Paul Gray said "I walked through these doors a boy, and I'm walking out them a man." Roger Smith only served three months after filling Jim Skelton's seat. He left after being elected to the county commission.
All three of the new councilmen say they want to continue to trim the budget and provide a safe community for the residents of Wichita.
