The heavy rains made for a messy commute home Tuesday evening. Some of the heaviest flooded streets were on Douglas and Central. On Central, KAKE news spotted a good Samaritan helping out a man whose car got stalled.

Cody Smith, was driving down Central, he said "it floods really bad in this area so anytime it happens normally me and my friend come out help people out and pull them off the side of the road."
He says it's important to get stalled cars off the roadway especially before it gets dark. After dark, they can become a road hazard. He said, "if somebody doesn't end up moving their car out of the way, someone not paying attention they could get rear ended."

The fire department says if you get stranded, it's best to put on your flashers and call a tow truck. Capt. Jay Tully, with Wichita Fire Station #4, said "it's simply stagnant water that you simply decided to drive through and it killed your vehicle call a tow truck rather than a submersion call because that changes the level of response that we respond to."
