The Wichita City Council voted to waive the $25 alarm registration fee passed in the spring.
In June the council revised the city's false alarm ordinance, charging homeowners $40 for each false alarm after the first. Because the police respond to 25,000 false alarms each year, the department asked for a $25 registration fee for alarm owners.
Tuesday, the council revised that part of the ordinance saying that $25 would be waived beginning September 11, 2011 if the homeowner has not had a false alarm the prior year.
