Circle High School principal Allan Sersland was arrested for DUI and evading and eluding police while in a school vehicle.
Sersland was arrested last Friday morning around 3 a.m. on Highway 54 east of Andover. An officer says he clocked Sersland going 80 mph in a 60 mph zone.
When he tried to pull the principal over, Sersland allegedly continued on for five more miles before stopping. When he did pull over, police say Sersland hit a mailbox.
"People need to handle themselves more appropriately. They're supposed to be a role model to the kids at Circle," said Towanda resident Ronald Lucas.
Sersland was driving a Circle School District car when he was arrested. The assistant principal Todd Dreifort is now the acting principal.
