When business owners inside several of the stores at Plaza Mexico went home Monday night, all was well.
By early Tuesday morning, that was not the case, after burglars tried to break-in.
The surveillance video shows a car crashing through the back door and entrance to Plaza Mexico. Once the burglars were inside the building, the video shows them searching for merchandise to steal.
"They went to some buildings and broke the windows. They took a couple baby shower decorations, and a couple baby blankets," said Adan Arredondo, Plaza Mexico employee.
After stealing the items, the burglars made their way down the center hallway of the building, grabbing a cheap amplifier on the way out. They left a stack of cash nearby.
Outside the building, the door left crushed by the car was replaced Tuesday. It had been replaced 22 days ago, when burglars broke in and caused about $300 in damage.
"This time, it was more expensive. They broke the two doors, drove the car inside my store," said Martin Carlos, Plaza Mexico business owner.
The incident caused destruction and heartbreak for business owners who say they are trying to provide for their families.
"What happened? For only 30 bucks? 100 bucks?" asked Carlos.
"We're trying to make a living, and this is what happens," said Arredondo
Owners estimate the damage at about $10,000.
They said the door will be even more secure this time than it was the time before.
