The new sponsors for the Wichita Biddy Basketball program are set to take over the building and the program this week.
In February, The Salvation Army shut down the 50-year-old program citing poor economy and fewer teams playing.
The new owners, led by Michelle Griggsby, met with Salvation Army leaders today to discuss the transition. The two sides agreed Griggsby's group will pay the Salvation Army $25,000 for the equipment.
Chris Brown, Biddy Basketball organizer, said he is "relieved" this is finally happening. He said the building will need to be renovated. New equipment must also be purchased before the kids can step back onto the court.
The program is expected to be up-and-running, again, in a couple of weeks.
