In honor of today's anniversary, Governor Brownback has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff today to remember the victims of 9/11.

Students at Maize South High School placed 2,977 flags around campus to represent those who died in the 9/11 attacks.

And there are several local services being held today to honor the victims.

At 10:00 A.M., the Kansas Firefighters Museum will host a ceremony, complete with a flyover by the Commemorative Air Force. There will be a release of forty white doves to honor those who died. The ceremony will be followed by a reception with refreshments. That's located at 1300 South Broadway.

Also at 10:00 A.M., Fort Riley is holding a 9/11 Commemoration Ceremony at the Global War on Terrorism Monument in front of the U.S. Cavalry Museum. The purpose of the ceremony is to honor and remember those who were killed as well as recognize the sacrifice of soldiers who defend our freedom by rededicating the Global War on Terrorism Monument to which names are added each fall.

At 5:00 tonight, Inter-Faith Ministries will open its Spiritual Center at 841 North Market for a short ceremony. Attendees may tour the building afterward.
