A pickup truck driver is behind bars after he plowed his truck into a house in southeast Wichita.
Jeff Holtz, Sedgwick County Sheriff Department lieutenant, said the driver of the truck was spinning its tires and speeding in the neighborhood at about 10:30 p.m. Monday in the 5100 Blk. of S. Hemlock. That's when the driver lost control and plowed into a home.
Holtz said witnesses reported the driver then backed up and left the scene. Some of the witnesses started following the driver where there were still pieces of the house underneath the vehicle.
Sheriff deputies were able to catch up with the truck around 63rd St. S. and Grove. The driver was arrested and treated for minor injuries. Alcohol is being investigated as a cause for the crash into the home. Holtz said it appears no one was living there.
