Units from several area fire departments responded to a fire in east of Pratt that reportedly started along 6th St., southwest of Wal-Mart located on Highway 54.
There was no immediate apparent cause or point of origin for the fire. After the fire started, however, it traveled northeast where it was finally contained next to Highway 54 at the Pratt Chrysler building.
No damage occurred to any structures but several vehicles were burned and damaged.
There has been no estimate of the value of the loss. No injuries have been reported.
The fire threatened a nearby veterinary clinic, the Wal-Mart building and two residences, but quick response by fire crews prevented them from catching fire.
The fire began around 2:30 p.m. and was under control by 3:40 p.m.
Township 12, City of Pratt, Cullison, Iuka, Preston and Sawyer responded to the fire. Units also responded from Cunningham, Barber County and Kiowa County. Assistance was given to the fire units by the Pratt County Sheriff's Department, Pratt Police and the Kansas Highway Patrol.
