A 27-year-old Buhler man is dead after he crashed his pickup truck shortly before 10 p.m. last night in eastern Reno County.

Reno County Sheriff Capt. Wayne Baughman said Jason Bether was driving east 4th Ave. east of Rayl Road near the Reno and Harvey County line, when he lost control of his truck and drifted off the road. Bether's truck went through a barbwire fence before smashing into a tree.

Bether was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a seat belt.

Baughman said there is no indication alcohol is involved in the accident, but Bether's body will still undergo an autopsy in Sedgwick County.
