On Tuesday morning, the Wichita City Council approved the design and right-of-way purchases to expand the Kellogg Freeway west to 143rd Street.
The city has been working on the Kellogg project for years. This latest phase would include making Kellogg from 111th West a six-lane road with interchanges at 119th and 135th Streets.
The estimated cost of the project will be developed after preliminary engineering work is completed. $1.5 million is needed to begin right-of-way acquisition.
