Justin Thurber has been found competent to stand trial in the murder of an Ark City teenager, sources told KAKE News today.

Cowley County District Judge Jim Pringle in October ordered a mental evaluation for Justin Thurber, who is accused of raping and killing Sanderholm in January 2007. Her body was found in the Kaw Wildlife Area several days after she went missing.

Thurber has been undergoing a mental evaluation at Larned State Hospital.

Thurber is expected in Cowley County Court for a hearing this afternoon.

Sanderholm was a student at Cowley County Community College and a member of the school's dance team.

She was last seen Jan. 5, 2007, at a Subway restaurante in Arkansas City. Her car was found four days later in a lake about eight miles away.
