A preliminary hearing is underway for two Wichita men charged with the first degree murder of a 13-year-old boy.
Prosecutors say Allejandro Betancourt Junior and Eli Betancourt fired shots at a home on north Jackson on June 20 in retaliation for an earlier fight. Police say the men shot at the wrong home, killing Miguel Andrade.
Andrade's mother Silvia Martinez testified she heard shots fired around 6 o'clock that morning. She then said she heard her son yelling in Spanish, "I've been hit, I've been hit."
A neighbor said she saw the shooting happen as she looked out the window. She identified Allejandro Betancourt as the shooter, wearing a white jersey with numbers on it. During cross examination she said she wasn't sure.
Later, a Wichita Police Officer who pulled over the suspects identified Eli Betancourt as the man who was wearing a white jersey with numbers.
