A woman on a cross-country bike ride was making her way through Kansas on Tuesday.

Cyclist Danielle Girdano is riding from Minnesota to Texas. Her 5,000 mile ride is to raise awareness for equal rights for gay, lesbian and transgender people

"Why did I want to do it? A long time ago, my Dad told me if you see something you don’t agree with, it’s not right, do something about it. This is me doing something about it, trying to pay it forward for the next generation,” Girdano said.

Girdano is currently on day 14 of her trip. She plans to arrive in Dallas on September 18. She’s posting updates on her journey on facebook.
