Forbes Magazine published a list compiled by CareerBliss.com that ranks the ten happiest and unhappiest cities to work in right now, and Wichita ranks the third unhappiest.
The three happiest cities to work include Dayton, Ohio, Knoxville, Tennessee, and Honolulu, Hawaii.
The three unhappiest cities to work include Boulder, Colorado, Reno, Nevada, and Wichita, Kansas.
"We were a little bit shocked that it was third unhappiest because actually right now, we're seeing things start to pick up. We're seeing hiring," said Kimberly Cronister. "But whenever you stop and think about what we've been through the last several years, it's not necessarily surprising."
Some people that spoke with KAKE News said they did not agree with the rankings.
"I think they talked to the wrong people," said Carol Campbell, who was happy working in Wichita as a receptionist. "I know there are several professions out there that people are real unhappy but the pay is really good, and so they stay."
A spokesperson for CareerBliss said the list is based on 36,000 independent employee reviews between Nov. 2011 and Nov. 2012. Employees gave input on ten factors that affect workplace happiness like compensation, growth opportunities, and one's relationship with the boss and co-workers.
