Police are looking for the suspect in an apparent attempted abduction.
Officers say a 16-year-old girl reported she was walking home from West High School when a man approached her in his car near the intersection of S. Vine and Orient. He allegedly asked her to go with him saying her parents had told him to come pick her up.
The girl tells police she asked the man to name her parents, and he could not. She reportedly tried to leave but the man followed her for a period of time.
Police are still looking for the suspect in the case. He's described as a white male approximately 35 to 40 years old. He is balding and has a mustache and goatee, with a gap in his front teeth. The vehicle he was driving is a gray 1998 or 1999 box-type car with Kansas tags.
Officers say the victim was smart to ask the suspect for her parents' names, but they suggest families come up with a code word for similar situations in case a perpetrator has looked up a child's information online.
