Police said Thursday that they believe neither robbery or sexual assault were the motive behind the murder of a young woman inside her North Hutchinson home. Jennifer Heckel, 27, was found shot to death Monday night inside the residence at 501 Coronado.

Heckel's 5 year-old son reportedly ran to a neighbor's house Monday evening and asked for help. When police arrive, they found Heckel's body. Today, Capt. Troy Hoover said Heckel had been shot twice, but police are not releasing the caliber of weapon that might have been involved.

"We have some new information today that should help us in determining a motive for this crime," Hoover said. "It does not appear that this was a robbery or a sexual assault."

Hoover confirmed again that police believe Heckel's husband was out of town on business at the time of the crime.

"We continue to be interested in talking with him, but he does not rise to the level of a suspect at this time," Hoover said.
