The Wichita State University department of psychology needs volunteers for a study on driving and aging.
The study will provide a free vision assessment and visual exercises that may improve vision for older adults.
"One of the most important things for older adults is to keep their independence," said Dee Williams, administrator at the Derby Senior Center. "By practicing driving and doing these different types of skills, they will be able to maintain their driving ability and hopefully enhance their driving safety."
Dr. Rui Ni, who is leading the research, is hoping that the training procedures will help older drivers to keep on driving.
"We know older people tend to respond slower and we want to provide exercises to them so that they respond faster and process more information at the same time," said Dr. Ni.
