UPDATE: Thursday, July 19, 2012
A Westar representative says, as of 6:00 p.m., power has been restored to the pump station northeast Wichita. The outage caused city officials to urge water customers east of Rock Road and all of Andover to limit their water usage.
The problem was discovered late Wednesday at the pump station near 21st and Webb Road. Officials originally expected power to be restored by Friday. The City of Wichita still urges affected residents to not water lawns until Saturday.

City of Wichita officials are urging water customers east of Rock Road and all of Andover to not water their lawns until Saturday.
The problem was discovered late Wednesday at the water pump station near 21st Street and Webb Road.
"We're going to continue to monitor the system to make sure that the pressures remain at a safe level and we're coordinating our efforts with the fire department to make sure that we are able to adequately provide fire flows to maintain our fire protection," said Alan King, director of Wichita Public Works & Utilities.
The power outage has reduced water pressure in areas east of Rock Road.
Westar is working to restore the power to the pump station.
The voluntary watering restriction is not requested of customers west of Rock Road, because they are not affected by the power outage.
Officials expect power to be restored by Friday but they will need to slowly bring the water levels and flows back to the area.
