Donovan Duggins of Wichita won the Red Robin Kids' Cook-Off with his "Mount Vesuvius" burger recipe.
"The excitement of Donovan winning today for Red Robin is incredible in itself but I'm sure for Donovan's sake, it's a volcano going off," said Monty Noggle, Red Robin Wichita general manager.
The Robinson Middle School student created the "Mount Vesuvius" burger which features Duggins' homemade spicy barbecue sauce.
The 12-year-old won the grand prize of a family trip to Orlando, free Red Robin food for a year, and having his burger sold at Red Robin restaurants in the summer.
"I think it's pretty cool that just by me making one burger, I could change somebody's life," said Duggins.
Fifty-cents of every "Mount Vesuvius" burger sold will go to support the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children's child safety initiatives.
