It's the latest effort from Sedgwick County Sheriff's investigators to battle the ongoing problem of car burglaries at the Sedgwick County Park.

Investigators have placed large blinking traffic signs at both entrances to the park.

We're told the sign is on loan from the county. It flashes three, short quick messages at park-goers. Investigators say they want people who come to the park to know not to put their belongings under the seat or in the trunk because thieves could be watching.

Sedgwick County Sheriff's investigators say car break-ins have been a constant problem in the park for years. They've stepped up patrol and put fliers on people's cars but say they can only do so much themselves.

“We can't be out here every day to put fliers on everybody's car. To be a continual thing, we'd have to do every day because different people come to the park,” Lt. Jay McLaurian said.

Lt. Jay McLaurian says they wanted something that would grab people's attention and thought the signs might just do the trick.

“I think it's working, I’ve seen people stop and look at so it's working,” Lt. McLaurian said.

Both of the signs will be at the park for at least a week. Investigators say they're also asking anyone who is at the park and sees something or someone out of place to go ahead and call 911.
