"Just have a good attitude. It's Christmas. As long as you get there safely, who cares," said Chris Spindler, traveler from Pennsylvania.

Families were glad to avoid flight delays and cancellations just days before Christmas.

"There was a waiting list as well for the plane that we just came in on. They were trying to get people to fly on the later flight but we made it in, all five of us, so not too bad," said Spindler.

About a dozen drivers waited for loved ones outside of the airport. They were all hoping no travel hiccups would delay their family and friends.

"You always count on that somebody's going to be canceled. We have more family coming in tomorrow and I just cross my fingers that they're not going to be canceled and they'll get here safely as well," said Beth Bower, waited for her sister outside of the airport.

A handful of travelers arrived early and took their time before their flights out of Wichita.

"I just came early because I just wanted to have time to sit here and kind of take it easy and be that old guy reading a book and just kind of unwind a little bit before I got on my flight," said Chuck Driver, Leavenworth resident.

Frequent flyers gave advice of arriving early and packing light to those flying in the next few days.

"We just carried what will fit in the overheads and backpacks and that was it, so, it's really pack light," said Spindler.

"Go early to the airport. I just called my parents and said 'Go early 'cause you never know what's going to happen,'" said Bower.

But they all agreed to not lose sight on the reason for the season when traveling this year.

"It's all for the holidays. It's all to be with family and friends. So hopefully everybody can just stay cool and continue on in a positive direction," said Driver.

Airlines encourage passengers to arrive at least an hour and a half to two hours prior to flights.
