For the 40th anniversary, the Wichita River Festival team wanted something new and unique for festival goers so they decided to look to other exotic locations for inspiration.
"I just hope that people have fun doing it. We're not in Costa Rica or Hawaii, where you usually find zip lines. So, it's a totally different experience," said Janet Wright, Wichita River Festivals president.
The 450 ft. zip line is about 200 feet shorter than the one operated by Grizzly Adventures in El Dorado. The ride takes less than a minute and goes between 15 to 20 miles per hour, overlooking the Arkansas River.
"This is a great opportunity not only for the people of Wichita and the surrounding areas but for us at Grizzly Adventures," said Shane Steinkamp, Grizzly Adventures director.
There is a list of rules and instructions to ride the zip line. You can learn more by clicking here.
