This summer's extreme heat has exterminators busy fighting mice.

Patton Termite and Pest Control said the 100 degree temperatures this summer left the rodents looking for shelter. Exterminators said mice normally don't start coming into garages and homes until October when the temperatures get cooler.

Because this summer, in the Wichita area, was so hot and dry, mice had no food and little shelter.

Now, many people are finding them scampering in their homes. Patton said to make sure and seal holes, keep dog food out of the garage, and keep your garage door shut.

The company also recommends calling for help right away if you see a mouse, because they multiply quickly.
