It's a campaign to crack down on eyesores across Wichita. A community action group is launching an effort to flight blight, and it wants residents to get involved.

'Speak Out Kansas' is asking community members to report abandoned and neglected homes, because the group says it will find the owners and pressure them to make a change.

"How can you feel good about the community when this is what you're looking at everyday as you walk to work, as you walk to school?" said Speak Out Kansas Community Organizer Ti'Juana Hardwell, as she stood in front of a blighted home in Northeast Wichita.

The group says the blight problem is more than just an issue of pride, as abandoned homes can harbor crime, and bring down property values.

"No one wants to move next door to an abandoned house that has mainly been a makeshift junk yard," said Hardwell.

So the group says in order to help out, residents can upload pictures of blight to their Facebook page. You can visit that page by clicking here.

You can also contact the group or email pictures to Staff@SpeakOutKansas.org.
