Staff members felt disturbed to know that a burglar caused thousands of dollars in damage, ate their pizza, and accessed a porn site at the Grace Episcopal Church in Hutchinson.
"It's disheartening to think that someone can do something like that," said Sally Russell, an administrator at the church.
Russell found windows shattered and sacred symbols, like the processional cross, damaged on Wednesday morning. She said the burglar used the cross to gain access to the church office, then the burglar used her co-worker's computer to access a porn site.
"I'm just disgusted that somebody would actually come in and not only rob the place but actually take the time to sit in my seat and open up those types of websites," said Toni Cottrell.
They also found pizza crumbs in the main part of the church, which led them to believe the burglar also ate their week-old pizza.
Hutchinson Police said this is the second church to be vandalized in the last month. Although police do not think the two cases are connected, they urge people to be vigilant.
"It's just free play once they get inside 'cause they've got so much time to do damage. Sometimes there are things taken, sometime there aren't," said Detective Darrin Cox. "This time, it just appears that they tore up more stuff than they stole."
Police want help finding the suspect or suspects. If you have any information, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
