The Butler County Sheriff says his deputies have been involved in 5 deer accidents in just a few weeks. Sheriff Craig Murphy says around 2:00 AM, a deputy was going on a call on a county road when four deer ran out in front of his car.

The deputy skidded, trying to stop and ended up in a creek. He was OK, but his car is totaled. Just two hours later, another deputy hit a deer in a different part of the county.

"Last night I had two patrol vehicles in car/deer accidents," Murphy said. "Since Thanksgiving we've had five (deputies) in deer vehicle accidents over here," said Murphy.

The loss to the sheriff's department is close to $20,000.
