One of the latest ideas for the Wichita Boathouse submitted to the City of Wichita involves fine Italian dining and gondola rides.
The Wichita Boathouse has sat empty for more than three years. The city accepted proposals until noon today from those with ideas for its future.
One of the proposers is Chris Ligi. His idea is to make the Boathouse a fine Italian restaurant and include gondola rides.
“My vision is to on summer and spring night is to entertain crowds of banquets, weddings, catering events. Also having a restaurant in the lower level, having the water walk here and entertaining with the gondola rides up and down the river to utilize the Water Walk development,” said Ligi.
In Wichita’s olden days, there were ferries helping people cross the river. At the River Festival, there are all sorts of strange water craft.
With the proposals in, it’s now up to the City of Wichita to decide what’s best for the future of the Wichita Boathouse.
