The attempt to reopen Wild West World in just a few months have hit a speed bump.
Doug Spangler, the Kansas Representative for AHG Group that owns the park, said Thursday the group is looking for another carnival operator. Jerry Murphy had been in talks with AHG, while Spangler said Murphy hasn't formally backed out, the talks have fallen through.
Spangler said Murphy is looking at what's best, considering the economic downturn right now, as are many investors.
He did say he expects AHG to continue to move forward on reopening the park and expects to still have it open by this summer, although he said the economy is making that more difficult.
"I think all businesses in the economic climate are assessing their risk and analyzing their business deals. It's taking a little longer and people are very cautious," said Spangler.
Spangler declined to give the names of the other operators AHG is looking at right now.
Calls to Murphy were not returned. Park City officials declined to comment, saying they are waiting for more details on the situation with Murphy and AHG.
