Local organizations that offer holiday help to those in need are asking for help with no time to spare.
The gift of giving is falling short this year. It's happening inside every charitable organization across the city. Organizations which serve the hungry are lacking food. Many tots still need toys and the needs are up in that department. Donations are down and the time to help is running out.
Wendy Glick with the Lord's Diner says things are poor there too and they've never turned anyone away. They say they never will, but this year things are tight.
The amount of giving is down, but at the same time, we're serving more people. We've had a 178% increase from a year ago," Glick said.
Other charities, such as Toys For Tots, Catholic Charities and the Salvation Army say they're seeing similar spikes of those in need.
All these charities are making one last plea for help.
