Wichita Police are investigating an early morning stabbing that sent a man to the hospital in critical condition.

About 8:30AM Thursday morning, Herman Trotter called 911 to report he'd been attacked by a suspect hiding in the backseat of his car.

It happened at an apartment complex in the 400 block of N. Emporia.

Trotter says the man grabbed him from behind and demanded his wallet. That's when the suspect stabbed him.

Trotter is at Via Christi St. Francis suffering from a stab wound to the stomach and scrapes to his face.

Trotter says he had his rent money in his wallet, but he is still very thankful to be alive.
