Socks For Seniors, a non-profit community service project to help senior citizens keep their feet warm in the winter, is hosting its annual sock drive. Volunteers are currently collecting new socks for distribution to area senior citizens.
The Socks for Seniors project started in 2002. Since then, the sock drive has grown into a nationwide network.
The holiday season can be the friendliest and most giving time of year, but not for everyone. Each year, thousands of lonely and financially challenged seniors dread facing the holiday season alone.
Socks For Seniors volunteers work to bring holiday cheer along with a pair of new socks to warm the hearts and cover the cold feet of seniors. The program benefits seniors who are living alone, in nursing homes or who are homeless.
The organization encourages donors to collect fun and funky holiday styles of socks. They also need traditional tube socks.
