Thousands 'Race For The Cure'

Officials for Komen's Mid-Kansas Race for the Cure say more than 10,300 people turned out for this year's event.

This year's race has raised over $570,000 towards the fight against breast cancer. Fundraising remains open through October 15th at

Team category winners for the 2011 race are as follows:
Team Koch: Largest Corporately Sponsored Team. Team captains are Susan Addington and Mary Alyce Oldani.
Poggi's Pride: Largest Team All other Divisions and Highest Fundraising Team with current totals at $13,400. Team Captains are Dr. Joseph Poggi, MD, Celeste Grothusen and DeAnn Barr.

More than 10,000 people raced for breast cancer awareness in the Susan G. Komen Mid-Kansas Race for the Cure on Saturday in Wichita.

Cancer survivors, their friends and families, and people who signed up to support the cause, took part in the 22nd annual event.

Everyone dressed in pink in keeping with the color associated with the fight against breast cancer. Even Sedgwick County firefighters wore pink in support of the event.

Kids for the Cure raced at 9 a.m.
