WICHITA, Kan.--

Students and fans are gathering outside Koch Arena hours before the Wichita State University men's basketball team hits the court.

"Just kind of came up with Marshallville, little bit of a knock-off of Krzyzewskiville of Duke, but I think it's really picking up," said Max Runyon, sophomore.

Runyon created the idea after last season's success in the NCAA tournament.

He wanted a dedicated space for fans to gather and even tailgate before games.

"We think that Gregg Marshall's a great person to rally behind," said Runyon. "We think this could be an idea that really has its chance to take off and be a tradition."

On August 28, the Student Government Association unanimously passed a resolution to create Marshallville.

The following month, the WSU athletics director gave his blessings to Runyon to have a space outside the arena to gather before games.

Now, you can find fans and students gathered outside with tents and music. They will gather before home games on the southeast corner of Koch Arena.
